Nami Sushi

Located in Belton, TX. Other locations include Temple, TX and Killeen, TX. I have only dined in the Belton location. Wasabi took me here on our first Valentine's date. It really is a hidden gem. It is located off I-35, off by itself, and shares a building with a Bingo place. However, inside it is cute and cozy so do not judge it by the outside.

They have Hibachi grills where they cook in front of you. I would highly recommend the hibachi (see below about hibachi) but we always sit at a regular table to order sushi and sometimes hibachi too.

Wasabi and I would probably agree this is one of our favorite sushi restaurants. It is a must try Texas sushi fans!!

Our favorite roll at Nami is the Monster Roll.

Monster Roll- Smoked salmon, cream cheese, crab and avocados. Tempura battered and fried.

This roll was our first taste of sushi and we still consider it one of our favorites. The presentation is beautiful and different every time. I wish I had more pictures of all the different ways they present it. I am very picky about tempura fried sushi. That outside fried part cannot be too crunchy with a cold soft inside. The balance has to be right. I always hesitate to order rolls with a fried outside. However, the Monster Roll is well balanced and I love the warm taste. Do not wait to eat this one. It is best warm when they first bring it out.

Spicy Jazz Roll- Shrimp, crab & cucumber topped with salmon in a spicy Cajun sauce

Wasabi really likes this one. He likes the spicy Cajun sauce flavor. We have ordered this one a few times. We have not ordered it recently though so I would like to try it again. This was one of our first rolls we ordered.

**I cannot find a picture of this one.

Captain Crunch (special, not on menu)- We saw this on the special menu one time. We loved it!

Captain Crunch

Nami Roll- shrimp tempura, salmon and cream cheese, topped with tuna

We liked this roll. It is hard to go wrong with good fish, cream cheese and sauce.
Nami Roll

Bonzai Roll- tuna, yellow tail, salmon, avocado, and cucumber

Simple and fresh. We like to order more simple rolls with the fun, fried and saucy ones. These two were simple to balance out a Monster Roll.

Philadelphia Roll-smoked salmon, cream cheese and avocado

Fresh and simple. Philadelphia done right. We use to think the Philadelphia was a safe bet but some places do not get it right. It needs to be cold and fresh tasting. Nami does it right!

LA Roll- crab, avocado, cucumber and smelt roe

I do not remember us loving or hating this roll. Although covered in smelt roe and looking packed with flavor, this one was plain and simple. The smelt roe adds more texture than flavor. I would recommend this roll paired with something more exciting.
LA Roll
Rock and Roll- shrimp tempura, smelt roe, avocado and cucumber

This one we have ordered more than once. We like the two sauces together.
Rock and Roll
Caterpillar Roll- Eel, gobo & cucumber topped with avocado

Love the presentation of this roll. It was delicious.

Volcano Roll- California roll topped with a rich, spicy scallop sauce

I do not remember this being one of our favorite Volcano Rolls but it was not bad.

Volcano Roll
PD Roll- I cannot find this on the menu to give a description. It must have been a special roll. It was "special" indeed. It came on fire! Loved it!

Eel (Unagi)Nigiri sushi, comes in two pieces per order.

The eel was good. However, I love eel sauce and think it adds that much more. Nami does not use a lot of eel sauce when serving this sushi so it is not my favorite Nigiri eel to order.

**I apologize that my picture is dark.

Unagi

Hibachi
I have to add the delicious Nami hibachi. I normally get the Chicken Hibachi which is prepared with lemon and sesame seeds with teriyaki sauce. The hibachi comes with Nami soup, salad (which has a delicious and one of my favorite Ginger dressings), 2 pieces of shrimp, hibachi vegetables and steamed rice. You can also order fried rice and I like that a lot. I would highly recommend the Yum Yum sauce, however, the hibachi ginger sauce is great too!

It is so much food but we cannot go to Nami without ordering sushi too. Sometimes, we will order a Monster Roll (because it is our favorite) and get a hibachi per person. And sometimes, we split a hibachi and get more sushi. They are flexible on splitting the hibachi before serving it.

Nami finishes our meal with a Green Tea mint. Wasabi prefers the chocolate one. A perfect way to end a GREAT sushi meal.

I would like to try the Tiger Eye and Spider Roll. I think we possibly tried both but I cannot find the picture so I do not want to review it yet.

We use to live in Belton and would frequent Nami a lot. However, we are about 2 and half hours away now. We ALWAYS go to Nami when we come back to town. Let me know if you have tried a different roll we should get next time or seen a special roll we should request!
